According to a Cease and Desist Order issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Banking, the above two collection agencies seem to be collecting debts for Cash Jar.
On April 25, 2013, we received the following allegations against CashJar.com: “They made a loan to me for $625.00 I paid it back in two weeks. The total amount was $837.50. I later borrowed $450.00 and was supposed to pay back $512.50 but they billed me for $567.50. After having trouble paying back the total amount they call every day 10 times a day and continue to run through different amounts via ACH and have cost me $315.00 in return check fees. I will not pay them another dime because they have chosen to ruin me with the bank instead of working with me.”
On July 3, 2013, a kind reader sent us the following allegations against Cash Jar: “I just found out that they are not licensed to operate in Florida, yet they are issuing payday loans in the state.”
On August 30, 2013, we received this comment about Cash Jar: “Very high interest rates.”
On Sept. 6, 2013, we received these allegations: “Entity Details: CashJar.com – 1-888-568-2209. Complaint: I have a payday loan with Cash Jar that is usually deducted from my account bi-weekly on Friday. This week the funds were not deducted from my account on Friday but instead the following Wednesday. I was not notified of the change via email or by phone and this caused an NSF fee through my bank because instead of charging my account $125.00, I was charged $175. When I called to complain they put me on hold to see “what can be done about it.” This however does not take care of the NSF fee that was caused by charging the incorrect amount.”
