On January 2, 2013, we received the following allegations about CWB Services LLC / Horizon Opportunities: “I received a phone call/message at the close of business on Friday, December 27, 2012 telling me my loan was approved and funds would be deposited in my account at midnight, followed by 3 emails confirming my loan “application”. I never applied for a loan. $300 was deposited in my account the following Monday. I replied to each email, plus left several voice mails, indicating I never applied for the loan, I did not want the loan, and if they deposited any funds in my account it was at their own risk, as I would consider it a gift. I have issued a stop payment on any attempt to collect the funds, and have closed my checking account. I also reported them to the Department of Financial Institutions in Wisconsin, as they are not licensed to operate in Wisconsin. I also informed CWB that I did issue the stop payment, closed my account, and sent them information about operating illegally in Wisconsin and told them I did file a complaint. The number that they were calling from is 855-502-2936.” On the same day we also received the following allegations: “They are connected to CWB Services LLC, a company known to approve unsolicited loan “applications” and deposit funds, even though no application has ever been filed. They then try to collect the money on some obscure payday, with the service fee being $90 each payday, in addition to the principal amount originally loaned. I researched them, and neither Horizon nor CWB is licensed to operate in my state. I put a stop payment on any attempt to collect, and closed my checking account. Plus kept copies of all emails and replies, indicating I did not ask for the loan and I would keep any funds deposited. Just in case they try to sue me… I also let them know what the laws were in Wisconsin, that they were not licensed in Wisconsin, and that I reported them to the Department of Financial Institutions in Wisconsin. Hopefully that will be the last I hear from them!”

Editor’s Note: Thank you so much for your detailed info! We were unaware that these two entities may be related. Your info will help many people.

On January 25, 2013, a kind reader sent us the following allegations against Horizon / CWB Services: “The above comment is exactly what happened to me. I am a Maryland resident and also filed a complaint. The dates are very close together as for contacting me. They threaten to sue for fraud. I have no idea how they got my info.”

On September 23, 2013, we received these allegations against Horizon LLC: “I received a call from Horizon stating that my loan had been approved and they were going to put $200.00 in my checking account. I told them I didn’t want the money and that I hadn’t applied for any loan. They hung up on me. They deposited the money in my account and then withdrew $175.00 and then $50.00. I went to the bank and told them what they did and the bank said to close my account. I did and I have received threatening calls. They keep telling me they are going to cease my accounts and make me pay for a $3000.00 attorney. Every time I ask them for contact info or tell them what happened they hang up on me. This is wrong on so many levels. I wish we could get a class action suit and put them out of business… “
