Consumer Sentinel
The Consumer Sentinel is an identity theft and consumer fraud database managed by the Federal Trade Commission. Consumers can use it to file complaints against:
- identity thieves who set up fake payday loan websites to harvest personal information
- unethical lenders who engage in fraud
Consumer Sentinel gives law enforcement agencies immediate access to information about new scams and contains more than one million consumer fraud complaints filed with law enforcement agencies and private organizations.
From their website:
Online since 1997, Consumer Sentinel responds to the fact that sharing information makes law enforcement stronger and more effective. An international, multi-agency joint project, Consumer Sentinel also enhances cross-border consumer education and prevention efforts.
