Federal Trade Commission Credit Website
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has a website on credit where you can get information and file complaints against debt collectors who violate your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act…
From their website:
This site has information for you, whether you’re shopping for a mortgage or auto loan, checking the accuracy of your credit report, dealing with debt collectors, or looking for ways to protect your personal financial information… You’ll also find compliance requirements for businesses, and information about the FTC’s recent law enforcement actions.
If you would like to file a complaint about a collection agency regarding unfair or threatening collection practices, the “File a Complaint” button is located on the top right navigation bar.
