“It’s a very useful financial tool for people when they have unexpected expenses like their car breaks down or they have a little financial hiccup before their next payday. I can’t imagine what would happen if anyone took it away. They would be in a real financial lurch.”
Payday lender Ian A. MacKechnie believes his business, Amscot, offers a service many people need…
Amscot is one of the fastest growing payday loan businesses in Florida. According to MacKechnie, about one in three people have done business with Amscot in the last ten months. MacKechnie also cautioned borrowers:
“It’s not intended to be a long-term solution to anyone’s financial problems, and it should be used rarely and it should be for a limited amount of money.”
MacKechnie is executive vice president and treasurer of Amscot, a payday lending company with 130 stores in Florida.
