On October 4, 2012, a kind reader confirmed the Canadian address: “A FedEx receipt was confirmed for this address.” Editor’s Note: Thank you!

On Sept. 26, 2013, we received these allegations against DiscountAdvances.com: “Entity Details: I have tried to find an email contact for the company to send the complaint I have also sent to my states attorney general among others to no avail. Here is the information to my complaint and why I seek retribution: It has come to my attention that payday lenders must be licensed by the state of California in order to offer loans to its residents. Since your company has no license in my state, the loan contract I have with you is not valid. Although I am not legally required to do so, I have repaid both loans and the fees assigned with extended payment plans, the principal balance of the last loan I received a deposit of $410 in June, 2013, and paid 2 monthly payments for 3 months via automatic withdrawals of $100 and $167.36 on July 3, 2013 and $128.99 and $146.01 on August 2, 2013, and $181.01 and $90.94 as the last payments on September 3, 2013 which were paid in form of ACH withholdings debited from my account. This results in an overpayment of $404.31. At this time I am requesting a return email acknowledging that my loan has been paid in full. Also, I would like a refund of the $404.31 overpayment. A refund check of $404.31 should be mailed to me at the address you have on file. I have given a copy of these revocations to my bank, and I filing a complaint with the California Attorney General’s office, and Federal Trade Commission, as well as California’s banking/financial regulatory agency. I am only requesting refund for the most recent loan fees paid at this time, as you can look back you will find that I have had loans with you in the past and paid fees as well. However, I am not pursuing all fees to be refunded should I receive full cooperation in this matter. Please respond to this email with acknowledgment that my account has been satisfied in full. I have also saved all of my documents however for my own records. I also insist on details of when I can expect the refund check, as discussed above, should also be included in the email. On a more personal note. The manner with which the customer service department either refuses, or is not aware of these proceedings causing them to give out false information to callers needs to be addressed. Simply saying “I can’t access any of that because our system is down, or, regenerating and to call back next week” is highly inappropriate. Please take the time to educate them with a plausible and respectful accurate response to customer inquiries. You will find I have included my own copy of said payments below. Thank you for your time, and I await your response. With regards, [name redacted].”
