Our Credit Experts will conduct a confidential counseling session with you to determine your specific financial situation and present the options available to you to manage and pay off your debts and improve your long term credit standings.
AFS does not charge for counseling, education or referral services. If you enroll in a Debt Management Plan (which is optional), the following charges apply:
- a one-time set up fee which is determined by your state and the AICCCA code of practice (up to a maximum of $75)
- a monthly maintenance fee which also varies (up to a maximum of $50)
The Debt Management Plan has many benefits. AFS can leverage their relationship with creditors to help you get a structured repayment plan that can:
- lower your overall interest rates
- bring your accounts current (if you have fallen behind)
- eliminate your late and over the limit fees
AFS has 60 credit counselors who receive extensive training (including ongoing in house training) and must:
- become certified through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) during their first year of employment
- maintain their accreditation by completing 15 hours of continuing education every 2 years
- stay abreast of current industry events
These credit counselors are available Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time.
