“The vast majority of people who take out payday loans utilize the service responsibly. However, there are a small number who do not… This irresponsible minority is driving the debate and the opposition to payday loans.”
Payday loan shop employee Doug Jones defends his industry against opposition he believes is driven by a small number of borrowers who abuse payday loans…
Jones also said that market forces, not the government, should dictate what businesses exist in the marketplace:
“I would argue it is not, and should not be, a government responsibility to legislate how people spend their money. I may not like tattoos, but I will fight for tattoo parlors’ right to do business and for consumers to utilize their service. The free market, not government, should determine the fate of products and services.”
Doug Jones is a payday loan shop employee who resides in Roanoke County, Virginia.
