“Payday loans typically charge exorbitant amounts in interest for those who borrow from them… Employers should not be making money off the wages they pay their hardworking long-term care facility employees.”

Missouri Governor Matt Blunt said he will shut down on-site payday loan operations in state nursing homes…

According to the governor, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will deny nursing home renewal requests to operate payday loan operations that lend money to their employees. According to Governor Blunt:

“We are stopping this potential financial abuse of hardworking long-term care workers in Missouri.”

About 60 nursing homes in Missouri operate payday loan operations inside their facilities.
